| Scott - when I first got hair algae in my tank, I had a fake coral wall along the back of the aquarium and I think the upper edge of it was too close to the light, so it just grew hair algae like crazy. I would "trim" it every few days with tweezers and it was funny...always after I trimmed it the tangs would nibble at it. Eventually it died off and the other critters (crabs and hermit) took care of the rest. Maybe you could try trimming it every once in awhile...kind of gives your tank a head start...
