You can go quite a bit higher too, I use 2 Korialia 3's (850gph each) in my 37, same dimensions as a 29 just a bit taller, although it took some finessing to keep the sandbed from "lifting off". Both are about halfway down on each side panel, aimed at the top opposite third of the tank(if that makes sense, they generally intersect in the middle of the tank and the flow goes wild from there). Between those pumps and not having any rock against the back or side walls I rarely see any detritus settling anywhere (other than the skimmer, which gets ample opportunities thanks to the flow)
