Help: Problem with new Anemone

I finally stocked my tank last night with some fish, a green bulb-tipped anemone, and a xenia frag. I placed the anemone in the tank and several hours later when I went to bed, he had moved to a different part of the tank, I think by "jumping" into the current.

This morning I woke up and it was in two places, having split overnight. The pieces are on two different sides of LR.

Here's the photo from yesterday afternoon:

Here's the view from this morning. The red circle in the upper right is where it was yesterday afternoon. The arrow in the lower left is where it was last night when I went to sleep. You can see where the two pieces are now.

Since the piece on the left is close to the glass, I was able to get a close up photo:

The piece on the right is kind of wedged into some LR, so this was the best photo I could get:

Does anyone have any idea what happened?
Should I take one or both pieces out of the tank?
Should I just give up on it and take it back to the LFS and hope for a refund/exchange?

Thanks!
