i have a similar situation as you, 45G display (small stand) with an 18T glass
sump. I use the tunze 9015 and I love it! easily adjustable with minimal maintenance, and can be used in
sump or in tank (but why would you want to do that!). their footprint also is very unobtrusive. can't be more than 5x5inches.
never used the octopus but I'm sure it would be much more cost efficient. the tunze's are expensive
