Next to reefing, I like photography. Mixing the two is a natural. I shoot a Nikon D70 with a Nikon 18-70mm lens, UV lens cover. Not being able to afford the Macro lens I want, I opted for a set of 3 close up rings, a x1, x2 and x4, which gives me a wide choice of options for Macro shots. I also have a Nikon 70-300mm zoom with an adapter ring for attaching the close-up rings for some really close macro shots, although it takes a rock steady hold to get them to turn out in focus. I need a good tripod.
Here are a few general shots around the tank.
My Desjardini Tang (
Zebrasoma desjardinii)and Marine Beta (
Calloplesiops altivelis) are about to meet.
They flare their fins and retreat back into the rocks. I keep two Marine Betas in the 135. When they meet each other there is a flashing of fins, a dash toward each other in a display of power and ZOOOM, there gone, in separate directions back to there respective hideouts. Of all the different fish I've kept over the years, the Marine Beta is the shyest. I have tried to get a shot of the two together but, when they are together it's for brief moments and usually I am not prepared with camera in hand. However, the other day I was at the computer with camera on my desk when IT happened.
There, parts of both in the same frame. The only time I've captured it.
