If YOU made the post or thread, you will not see it in New Posts, because you've already seen it. For example, if you go to New Posts, and open something listed there, and then refresh the new posts list, the thread you just looked at will no longer be amongst the new posts, because you read it. So, if you find an old thread and post to it, everyone who is subscribed to that thread will get an email saying there is a new post, AND it will get put back into the New Posts list for everyone but you.

As explained .. New Posts will show posts/threads that are "new" to you.. all posts/threads you have not read yet
