nay,kid Insightful Reefer Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: louisville, KY Posts: 179 Thanks: 11 Thanked 2 Times in 2 Posts	I went back and read calfo's book pertaining to this and came up with what rroselavy mentioned. according to my understanding is the bacteria live in depths up to 15". They need a low oxygen environment so the deeper the better.As far as becoming dependent on the DSB I think you still need other forms of denitrification which would continue to work without the RDSB. __________________ Matt 150 gallon mixed reef 55 gallon refugium 100 gallon sump
