That is why I will not use any of the TAAM products, Rio, Seio, and others. They are junk. There are other products out there that won't explode in your tank that are reasonably priced.
In regards to the kill-a-watt meter, Most
DIY guys have one laying around for trying to get the most out of their
skimmer. When you mesh mod a
skimmer pump, you need to check the wattage before and after the mod to check that it isn't pulling too much wattage. This can burn up the pump pretty quickly. This is usually because the mesh or zip ties are dragging on the volute of the pump.
A good product to use to create a moisture barrier in a fish room or whatever else is KILZ. It is a type of primer that is made to resist moisture. This is what I would use in a fish room and then put some good quality latex or oil based paint over the top of it. Flat, semi gloss, or gloss really has nothing to do with it.
