From what I have heard, the production facilities are at full capacity. If they build a new facility, the increased profit will "pop" the bubble of demand for the Wii. Part of the problem is that stores are creating an illusion of unavailability.
I went into a Meijer here in Cincinnati (Norwood, if anyone wants to know) and saw three sitting on the shelf while Best Buy is always claiming they never have any. There are reports of Best Buy keeping the Wiis in the back and occaisionally having an employee walk through the store saying "I've got the last Wii in stock" when in reality there is a pile in the back.
