It sounds like you have a good start. You want to add your
LR right at the beginning. That is what is really going to seed your sand and truly make it live. I highly doubt that you will get micro stars from the packaged "live sand" in a bag. There may be some bacteria in the bag but it has been sitting on the shelf for who knows how long and I really don't think that there is all that much life in this product. To get some diversity, if you have a friend with a tank just get a cup or 2 of sand from their tank.
