Finally got the new 75g up and running today. I started yesterday afternoon and finally got it all working fine tonight. After putting all my extra dead rock in my 30g with heater and powerhead for about a week. all checked out so i started adding it to the tank. all parameters are at the ideal level.
here are some pics. The first one is a bad pic of the whole tank. The second is a close up of the cucumber i have (can anyone identify it??? species?). He usually hangs out in the rocks but is staying on the glass for now. The third is the pile of
LR on the right side. The fourth is my scooter blenny, the only fish in this large tank, lucky guy. And the last one is a banded starfish (anyone know the exact name for these types?).
I was going to use a 30g tank for the
sump but didn't have the time or money to modify it. So i used a plexi glass
sump that i've had and had to modify it slightly to work better (from things i've learned here, still not perfect but i'm getting there). It's about 25g. So i have the overflow from the tank going down into the right side of the
sump from there the
skimmer ( a hang on style, the red sea prizm) takes the water and skims it and dumps it over into the middle chamber where i'm starting a
DSB. For now i only have an inch or two and a few small peices of
LR and some chaeto but will add to that when i can seperate that chamber from the return pump chamber better. From that chamber it flows over to the return pump. For now i just have a peice of plexi there to keep the sand and other debri from going back into the tank. In the tank i have 2 rio 90 powerheads (will get much bigger ones when money permits) and a larger, although not much more powerfull unknown brand powerhead. I seem to have alot of tank flow but will still get a few more powerheads to make sure the whole tank gets some flow. I need to get the hood to make a better place for the lights to sit. I just put in 4 65w 50/50 bulbs.
so thats that, now to let it sit for a few months and let it mature a little bit before adding anymore livestock.
i can't believe how addicting this hobby is!!!!
