I've been using a 2 l bottle with just enough of the neck cut off to insert the outflows from my
skimmer. I also punch a couple of holes punched in the lower 1/3 of the bottle. The water drains through the holes and the top. I though the shape of the bottle or the dwell time in the bottle was the reason it reduces the bubbles so well. Whenever they get yucky I thus toss them into the recycling bin and use a new one. I think I will give your method a go when clean my
skimmer & pump in next week.
