different height of baffles?

i am designing my sump and i want to know if i can have baffles of different heights for a bubble trap. like basically baffles are like this right

well i was wondering if the bubble trapper would still work if i did it like this instead

with the right one shorter than the left one? because on the left side is my skimmer, which needs a highish waterlevel. and then on the right side of the bubble trap is the return pump, which doesnt need as high of a water level? so i was wondering if it still would get rid of bubbles if i did that?
