Totally agree with Rob,
A high nitrate issue is usually a cause of something. Maybe overfeeding the tank, a wet/dry filter, overcrowding, etc. I think water changes with good quality R/O water would be the best way to reduce the nitrate level. I personally have not used any of those chemicals and I do not know anyone who has.
