Yes and no. There are nudibranchs that eat coral but not the Lettuce nudibranch. Actually, nudibranchs as a group are some of the more difficult animals to keep alive in captivity. Most of them die in a month or two by waisting away from starvation. The Lettuce Nudi is supposed to eat hair algae and I had such a beautiful growth of algaes, meaning several kinds, that I thought I'd try them. They go about grazing on the rocks and so far seem to be doing fine. It's been a month since I bought them. AdamJ is right about them being picky eaters. Most should stay in the ocean. Cheng too, is correct. If you get a year out of them consider yourself lucky. Under reef conditions Nudies are not long lived.

Clams are some of my favorite critters. I love the variety and richness of the colors.
